GIGSE Supports Happy and Healthy Holidays
glutenfreeshoreline@gmail.com.
To address increased food insecurity in the local gluten-free community, The Gluten Intolerance Group of ShorelineEast (GIGSE) donated six baskets of Thanksgiving gluten free products from various vendors to families in need in Clinton, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook. GIGSE’s goal was to provide gluten-free options for traditional holiday foods such as stuffing, gravy, and pie crust mix so that those needing to eat gluten free were able to enjoy the same dishes as others at their tables. Similar baskets will be donated for Christmas as well. The Christmas holiday comes with its own traditions and GIG hopes to make these traditions more inclusive to the gluten-free community, especially those faced with food insecurity who may not be able to afford the higher prices of gluten-free foods.
GIGSE is the only support group on the shoreline for those living a gluten-free lifestyle. For more information, email glutenfreeshoreline@gmail.com.
