Catch and release trout season continued surging, putting wind and rain aside. Anglers were out in numbers, catching impressive rainbows, browns, tigers, and some brookies. Air and water temperatures are rising. Most safe ice is gone, opening up many lakes and ponds to bass, pickerel, pike, walleye, and panfish action. Fishers are looking for early striper activity anticipating the coming of herring, while some are already testing the shoreline.
