July 11, 2022: The Branford Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeant Mike Loftis.

Sergeant Loftis was promoted from Patrol Officer to Sergeant and will now serve as a Patrol Shift Supervisor. Sergeant Loftis is a seven year veteran of the Branford Police Department. Prior to that he was a Security Forces Special Operations Enabler with the United States Air Force. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Providence College, where he competed on their Division 1 swim team, earning many awards and accolades.

During his time at the Branford Police Department he's been the department's TRIAD (Senior Citizen Services) Representative, a Field Training Officer, Intoxilyzer Instructor, Drone Operator and is also on the Marine Unit. In his free time he enjoys coaching swimming and spending time with his family and friends.
