It only comes around every six years, and East Haven is working to ensure the community makes the most of the opportunity. The Greater New Haven Italian-American Heritage Committee held a kick-off fundraiser at Silver Sands Beach Club for the 2022 Italian-American Parade, which this year lands in East Haven on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Last hosted in East Haven in 2015, the then-Columbus Day Parade has cycled through host communities New Haven, West Haven, North Haven, Hamden, and Branford. The May 26 kick-off fundraiser at Silver Sands Beach Club’s Beachside Restaurant helped set a tone for the annual parade, which has drawn upwards of 15,000 attendees in the past.

The Greater New Haven Italian-American Heritage Committee is currently seeking marchers, sponsors, and other support for the 2022 event, For more information, visit www.columbusdaynewhaven.org.
