North Branford Memorial Day Parade Returns May 30 in Northford
After a two-year hiatus, North Branford's annual Memorial Day Parade will return Monday, May 30, when it steps off on Middletown Avenue at 10 a.m. and marches toward the Northford village center.
Veterans of North Branford/Northford invite all citizens to gather to view the parade, which forms up at St. Monica's Church on Middletown Avenue. The parade marches north on Route 17/Middletown Avenue to the monument at the Northford village green.
This year, North Branford Parks and Recreation is encouraging residents to bring a photo of their veteran and join the 2022 Memorial Day parade march. Residents can reserve their place in the parade by registering at nbrecreation.com; for more information, contact Kathy Poston at the Park & Rec/Senior Center at (203) 484-6017. Parade units will line up in the St. Monica's Church parking lot, 1331 Middletown Ave. between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. May 30.
Last year, the 2021 Memorial Day Parade was postoned to 2022 due to the pandemic, while a ceremony was held on Memorial Day at North Branford Town Hall to honor all those who have died while serving in the military. In 2020, a in lieu of a parade, a Memorial Day ceremony was also held outside of Town Hall.
The town's 2019 Memorial Day Parade took place in the North Branford section of town. North Branford rotates its Memorial Day parade location between the Northford side of town and the North Branford side of town annually. It was last held in Northford in 2018.
