Farmer’s Market Comes Back to the East Haven Green on June 12
Back on the East Haven Green, the East Haven Farmers Market will run Sunday mornings 8:30 a.m. until noon with a big opening day assist from the Shoreline Garden Club on June 12.
The market moved from the Town Hall parking lot to the green in 2020 and has seen an increase in vendors and visitors in its new home. The market is now run out of Town Hall, with Assistant Director of Administration & Management Michelle Benivegna serving as market manager.
“The number of new vendors and variety of offerings have increased over the seasons. Our goal is to provide affordable, fresh, local, and healthy foods to our residents,” Benivegna said in a press release.
On June 12, Shoreline Garden Club members will be on site to assist guests with an herb-potting project to celebrate opening day. The club will host additional free planting activities throughout the season. Free market shopping bags will also be available on opening day. Throughout the year, the market will also regularly feature free yoga at 9 a.m. “Our farmer’s market is a great place to meet up with neighbors, support our local farmers, and purchase seasonal produce,” Mayor Joe Carfora said in a release. “Farmers depend on the community to purchase their produce. The East Haven Farmer’s Market continues to grow each season and that is thanks to the residents and those who visit from our neighboring town’s continued support.”
The market runs rain or shine; check www.facebook.com/easthavenct for updates on activities or severe weather cancellations. New vendors are welcome to participate in the market; for more information, contact Michelle Benivegna at East Haven Town Hall at 203-468-3204 or email mbenivegna@townofeasthavenct.org.
