Branford Rotary Increases Scholarship Funding for Branford Students

Branford Rotary is increasing its annual scholarship funding provisions benefiting graduating high school seniors residing in Branford, to now provide a total of $12,000 spread among six scholarships.

The scholarship opportunities include three, $3,000 "Service Above Self" scholarships. Applications for the essay-based "Service Above Self" scholarships can be downloaded now at www.branfordrotary.com   and must be submitted by June 6, 2022. Any graduating high school senior residing in the town of Branford, attending public or private high school, may apply for a "Service Above Self" scholarship.

Rotarian Tony Terry said the caliber of applicants for these scholarships in recent years inspired the decision to increase the annual amount of scholarship funding.

"We've been very impressed with the applications we've been reviewing," said Terry. "We think there are many top students among them."

In particular, the increase raises the "Service Above Self" scholarship opportunities from a past format of a single top prize of $3,000 and two additional scholarships of $1,500 to three recipients each receiving an equal top prize of $3,000.

In addition, Branford Rotary provides three Rotary Awards scholarships to three graduating members of the Branford High School (BHS) senior class, administered through the BHS scholarship application process.  That program has now been increased by $500, to a total of $3,000 and the awards will now provide each BHS recipient with a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarships are given annually to one BHS Rotary Interact Club graduating senior as well as two BHS graduating seniors.
