03/23/2022 12:00 AMRotary District 7980 has declared Saturday, April 9 Rotary Day of Service. All Rotary Clubs across Connecticut, along with clubs in Massachusetts will be participating in community projects. The Branford Rotary Club's project will be the "Branford Point Revitalization" with the focus on the environment. Our goal is to restore and rejuvenate the landscape and plantings in the area around and adjacent to the Branford's 350th Memorial, located at Branford Point. This area overlooks the harbor and Long Island Sound. It includes the sitting areas and walking path leading up to the Memorial.
Beginning on April 9 and continuing into May, we will be removing aged bushes and installing new plants that will tolerate the marine environment and enhance the beauty of the Memorial. This will include the planting of a Pollinator Garden and on going maintenance of the site.
The Project Team is led by Team Chairman Chuck O'Connor, Branford Club President Ginny Page and team members Angela Ruggiero, Jim Fennell, Kelly Whiteman and Sandy Carter. Other members of the Team include Bill Van Wilgen, Tony Terry, Nancy Mancini, Ray Figlewski and Schuyler Coulter.
This Project is in conjunction with Branford Parks and Recreation and is a combined effort of Branford Rotary Club members, Branford Rotary Interact Club members and Community Volunteers.
The Branford Rotary Club welcomes volunteers from the community on our Project Day and throughout the coming months for continued plantings and maintenance of the site.
Please sign up here for Branford Service Project. You are welcome to join us in a day of fellowship and revitalization.
