Zullo Qualifies for Citizens Election Program
Just six days following the official announcement of his re-election candidacy, East Haven State Representative Joe Zullo (R-99) confirmed that his campaign, following a six-day blitz across town, collected $5,975 from 175 unique contributors, qualifying his campaign to receive $33,175 in grant funding through the state’s Citizens Election Program for the November 2022 election cycle.
“Following a six-day blitz, we’ve logged 175 total donations, including 165 qualifying donations from East Haven residents, putting the campaign well beyond the grant program’s requirement of 150 qualifying contributions from town residents,” Zullo’s fiancée and campaign treasurer Danelle Feeley explained. “We’ve also surpassed the total fundraising threshold requirement of $5,800, which is impressive when you consider that the average donation was $34.14.”
According to the Connecticut State Elections Enforcement Commission website, in the 2022 election cycle, participating candidates who collect a minimum of 150 qualifying contributions between $5 and $290 from East Haven residents, and who collect at least $5,800 in total donations, are eligible to receive a grant of up to $33,175to run their campaigns.
Zullo explained, “In the wake of my initial re-election announcement, we were overwhelmed by not only the outpouring of support on social media and our website from people requesting lawn signs and sending well-wishes, but also the generosity of friends, family, and supporters across town who powered us past the state’s fundraising thresholds to help us qualify, in record time, to participate in the state’s clean elections program.”
Zullo added, “I want to express my thanks not only to all of the individuals who made contributions, but also to the team of friends and campaign workers who crisscrossed town to collect those contributions. It’s impossible to do alone. Quite oppositely, it’s a team effort and I am so grateful to have such a dedicated, hard-working team. I think the pace and strength of this fundraising effort evidences the enthusiasm behind this re-election effort. We’re in it to win it!”
In conjunction with his re-election announcement last week, Zullo’s campaign launched a full website at www.joezullo.com along with updated Facebook and Instagram accounts under the handle “@staterepzullo.”
Zullo concluded, “I’m relieved to have our fundraising logistics squared away and I encourage supporters to continue registering for lawn signs at my website at www.joezullo.com. In the immediate short term, my attention will be on the upcoming legislative session. However, when the session concludes, I’ll be back to knocking on doors and talking to residents about the quality-of-life issues I plan to address on their behalf if I’m privileged to be re-elected along with my plans for helping to make our State a more affordable place where families and small businesses can actually get ahead.”
