Essex Recommends Wearing a Mask in Public
In response to the spread of the Delta variant and the emerging Omicron variant, the Board of Selectmen and the Essex Health Director now advise that all residents, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask or face covering when indoors (not in your own home).
The town strongly encourages residents to avoid large gatherings especially over the next few days and over the next few weeks. We understand these precautions may impact your plans, but the virus is spreading like wildfire.
Regardless of your vaccination status, wear a mask while in public to help protect yourself and others from becoming sick this holiday season.
Given that the testing options are limited at the moment, for those who have any symptoms or have been exposed to the virus, it is wise to assume that they may have been infected and to isolate and/or quarantine yourself and follow CDC guidelines: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus.
We all want to be with family and friends but let’s do it wisely and safely.
