11/17/2021 08:00 AMOn Oct. 31, family and friends gathered in North Haven to name a footbridge at Sinoway Pond Park after James L. McKenna. McKenna was killed on Jan. 1 by a drunk driver. First Selectman Michael Freda was on hand to dedicate the bridge in his honor.
McKenna was a long time North Haven resident. He spent his life in service both in law enforcement and in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany, in Desert Storm/Desert Shield, and the Army Reserves.
Sinoway Pond is a special spot for his memorial bridge as McKenna ice skated and played many hockey games there with friends and family as a child. He is dearly missed by his family, friends, and his daughter.
