Scranton Library Invites Guests to Play Through
On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5 and 6, the E.C. Scranton Library will be transformed into a mini-golf course with rounds for adults and children. And this is truly a round of golf, an actual golf game inside the library, including balls, clubs, and post round refreshments.
The inaugural Putting Around the Library Links will serve adults on Nov. 5 and open to full families on Nov. 6.
According to the staff, exciting fun is planned for adults and families as part of the festivities. Gulick & Co., Restoration Contractors is this year’s major sponsor for this fundraiser.
Director Sunnie Scarpa said the entire library staff and the many sponsors worked diligently to coordinate this event and are anticipating a terrific time for all.
“We are so grateful to the Scranton Library Friends for putting together the Library Links event this November. Not only will this event help them raise money to support library programming, books, and other necessary purchases, but it’s also a great way to have community members come in from the cold and enjoy our new library facility,” said Scarpa. “We hope everyone will come enjoy this fun fall activity and enjoy re-connecting with your community at the Scranton Library.”
According to the staff, guests will enter the library from the parking lot into the pro shop, where they’ll get a putter, ball, and score card, then take the elevator up to the second floor and play through the stacks on down the staircase into the historical 1900 building, through the Friends Café and the fiction section, finishing in the children’s room. And now they’ve earned a treat. Ready for the club house?
The Friday, Nov. 5 event is for patrons aged 21 or older with cocktails post-round. It runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and is $40 in advance or $45 at the door. The Club House awaits with wine, beer, a signature cocktail, and hors d’ouvres. Reservations/tee times are recommended and can be made at scrantonlibraryfriends.wordpress.com. The Saturday, Nov. 6 Family Fun Play event is open to all ages and families and open all day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a last tee time of 3 p.m. The cost is $5 per player person with a maximum cost of $25 per family. Families will find fresh popcorn and treats featured in the club house. A food truck will be in the parking lot to provide complete food services. There are no tee times for Family Fun Play; patrons can rop in at any time.
Tickets for both dates will be available at the door. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted. For more information, visit scrantonlibraryfriends.wordpress.com.
