10/19/2021 12:36 PMJust three years after receiving an $800,000 Small Cities Program grant for improvements at Parkside Manor, the North Haven Housing Authority (NHHA) received a $1.5 million grant from the same program to complete renovations at Temple Pines. Both Parkside Manor and Temple Pines are public housing complexes for seniors.
NHHA Chair Richard LoPresti noted that the plans for Temple Pines—a 30-unit facility located at 555 Pool Road—include a new alarm system, a new elevator, ADA compliancy updates in three units, and other upgrades throughout the building, as well as some site work.
“We’re now applying for some additional funding through another program to augment that award,” said LoPresti. “We’ll start doing some renovations to Temple Pines, similar to the Parkside renovations done a few years ago.”
At Parkside Manor, a 40-unit facility located at 191 Pool Road, the grant monies funded site work such as new sidewalks and driveways, as well as a new fire alarm system. Subsequent funding allowed new roofs to be installed as well.
The NHHA oversees both senior housing facilities, which include efficiency and one-bedroom units.
