The Guilford Police Department (GPD) is currently investigating what it’s calling an “untimely death” at the Quonnipaug Hills condominiums, with an ongoing investigation assisted by Connecticut State Police, according to GPD Chief Butch Hyatt.

GPD is not releasing any other information yet pending positive identification of the deceased person and notification of next of kin, Hyatt said. An autopsy to determine cause of death is also in progress as of Friday around noon, with the results of that expected later Friday.

GPD is currently leading the investigation, according to Hyatt, but asked State Police to assist with processing of the scene due to limited resources at GPD.

“We only have a couple of detectives,” Hyatt said. “Whenever we have a case that, when we look at it, may be beyond the ability to do the processing...we always ask the state police to come in to assist us.”
