Summer Fun with the Blackstone Library
The Blackstone Library is offering something fun for everyone this summer! A summer reading game where you complete challenges each week, with prize drawings at the end of the summer, plus StoryWalk® on Main is back!
Summer Reading for All Ages
The Summer Reading Trail opens June 18th — and you're invited! Join the Blackstone for their ALL AGES virtual summer reading game that lets you stay connected by completing weekly challenges dealing with reading, writing, and the great outdoors! The best part is, each challenge will lead you closer to the "treasure" of your choice: multiple summer reading prize drawings at the game's end!
How to Play: The Summer Reading Trail is open from June 18th – August 20th. Once you register, you can choose how you play: As a family (only 1 email required for the whole family); As an individual, 1 email per player (requires separate submissions per email, per challenge). Register at blackstonelibrary.org. Once signed up, you will receive a new challenge by email each week. Decide which ones you want to complete and submit your response to the library.
How to Win: For each challenge you or your family completes, you will receive a digital ticket with a link to the Trail's Prize Drawing page. Choose 1 gift card preference per prize submission. The more challenges you complete, the more tickets you collect, and the more chances you have to win! Email the library at summer@blackstonelibrary.org if you have any questions.
What You Can Win: You will be able to choose from these local businesses when selecting your preference of gift card: Ashley's Ice Cream, Common Grounds, Donovan's Reef, Fired Up, Gamestop, GZen, R.J. Julia's, Sweets on Main. Prizes are made possible by the Friends of the Blackstone Library.
Enjoy a Book and a Stroll with Storywalk® on Main
Readers of all ages are invited to take part in the 4th Annual Storywalk® on Main display. Beginning June 18, you'll be able to enjoy some sunshine and take a walk down Main Street where you can read a picture book — each page will displayed in a different merchant window. This year's book is Rescue & Jessica by Jessica Kensky & Patrick Downes. Presented in collaboration with Branford's local merchants on Main Street, and sponsored by the Friends of the Blackstone Library and the Allan Louis Loeb Foundation, this story truly exemplifies the summer reading theme of "Tails & Tales."
