Westbrook Voters Overwhelmingly Approve 2021-’22 Budgets
On May 13, voters in Westbrook approved the town budget and five-year capital plan with few objections.
The proposed budget of $31,278,297 passed by a vote of 94 in favor and 3 opposed. The total budget represents an increase of 0.5 percent; however, the town’s mill rate will remain flat.
A capital plan of $1,821,707 worth of projects for the 2021-’22 fiscal year was also approved by a margin of 88 in favor and 7 opposed. Some projects included in the plan include money for police rifles, a new vehicle for the fire marshal, and a paving program.
Fixes for town building roofs and funding for a proposed recreation center will have funding in future fiscal years.
