2021 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Virtual Breakfast Benefits Local Needs
April 27, 2021: The shoreline community celebrated The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday by gathering together at breakfast time over Zoom with legendary anti-racism educator Jane Elliott, moderated by WTNH News 8's anchor, Keith Kountz. The proceeds from the 2021 breakfast supported the efforts of those working to keep everyone healthy and safe such as the Branford Counseling and Community Services, the Community Dining Room, Feed Branford Kids, and the Emergency Fuel Fund assistance Program.
The organizations supported by the breakfast are providing needed services, especially during our pandemic. The Community Dining Room, located at 30 Harrison Ave. in Branford, continues to provide meals to people along the shoreline; Feed Branford Kids is providing meal bags for kids at their Branford warehouse, 21 Business Park Drive. The Emergency Fuel Fund helps the needy with their fuel bills, and Branford Counseling and Community Services helps the needy in many ways including intervention and short-term assistance.
