Branford Town Clerk: COVID-19 Relief Funeral Assistance Available
Have you or someone you know lost a loved one to COVID-19?
Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will begin to implement and provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.
FEMA anticipates rolling out this new program in mid-April, 2021 and is currently preparing to establish and open the application process. For information on how to apply, please visit https://www.fema.gov/disasters/coronavirus/economic/funeral-assistance
If the death occurred in Branford or if the decedent was a Branford resident, the next of kin may obtain additional certified copies of the death certificate in the Branford Town Clerk's office Monday-Friday 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. The office can be contacted at (203) 315-0678 and is located in Branford Town Hall, 1019 Main St.
