Christine Goupil Takes Oath of Office
Christine Goupil (D) was officially sworn in Jan. 6 as the state representative from the 35th House District in a morning ceremony outside the State Capitol.
This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the legislature held an outdoor swearing-in ceremony as the 2021 Legislative Session gets underway.
“It was a great honor to take the oath to represent our beautiful 35th District of Clinton, Killingworth, and Westbrook. I look forward to serving my constituents with integrity and the great sense of responsibility they have placed in me,” Goupil said.
Prior to being elected to state office, Goupil served as Clinton’s first selectman, and is a current member of the Town Council, Board of the Connecticut River Area Health District, and Central Regional Tourism District.
Goupil was named to the leadership position of vice chair of the Planning and Development Committee and will be serving on the Human Services and Transportation committees.
“These legislative assignments are in line with the priorities that I am focusing on. I am thrilled to have been named vice chair of Planning and Development—a perfect fit to utilize my project management and development skills,” stated Goupil.
“The impact of this pandemic has left no one untouched in our community,” Goupil said. “Serving on the Human Services Committee will support my work to preserve and expand essential programs for our vulnerable populations, especially those impacted by COVID-19.”
Goupil encourages local residents to contact her at the Capitol at 860-240-8585 or Christine.Goupil@cga.ct.gov or visit her state webpage at www.housedems.ct.gov/Goupil any time with their opinions on pending legislation, ideas for enhancing State Government, or if assistance is needed navigating any issues with state agencies.
