'Chester Meeting House Sessions' Virtual Concert Benefits Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries
The Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries Benefit Concert - The Chester Meeting House Sessions is now streaming on YouTube. The concert is a production of AcousticMusic.Org, a specialty guitar shop in Guilford, and Wyeth Architects LLC of Chester.
Prior to the pandemic, the live concert usually occurred on Black Friday each year at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center. After the fundraiser was canceled due to Covid-19, the town of Chester stepped in to offer their meeting house to host a virtual performance.
Carter Gowrie of Gowrie Group and Leonard Wyeth of Wyeth Architects are among the performers. Westbrook's Gowrie Group will provide a dollar for dollar match for all donations to the SSKP (made prior to December 31st). Wyeth's wife Sue plays with him in Moving Target, an eclectic group whose repertoire includes Paul McCartney and Cole Porter. The staff of Acoustic Music also get in on the act; Dan Carrano, Ebin-Rose, and The Meadows Brothers, an award-winning folk duo, round out the roster. There's also an appearance by veteran singer-songwriter Lauren Agnelli.
The number of families in need of The SSKP's help has increased dramatically since the pandemic. In 2019, the SSKP provided enough food for almost one million meals across eleven Shoreline towns. Much of the food they provide goes to working adults, supporting families of four or more. For those who wish to donate, visit the SSKP's Network For Good page, and select "Gowrie Challenge" as the designation.
