Murtagh Appointed to Board of Education
Mayor Joseph A. Carfora has appointed Tom Murtagh to the East Haven Board of Education (BOE). Murtagh also met with the Superintendent of Schools Erica Forti along with other current members of the BOE as part of Carfora’s decision-making process.
Murtagh was born and raised in Meriden. He received his associate degree in electrical engineering and then continued his education at Hartford Hospital where he studied to become a radiation therapist. He has been employed as a radiation therapist for the past 26 years and has worked at the McGivney Cancer Center; he is currently employed at the Yale Smilow Cancer Center. Murtagh also instructs students attending Gateway Community College in the area of Radiology at Yale Smilow Center.
Murtagh has been married to his wife Claudia for 21 years. They moved to East Haven in 2004 and have twins who received their K-12 education in the East Haven school system.
