Scanlon to Chair Joint Finance Committee
Recently re-elected state representative Sean Scanlon (D-98) was named House chair of the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee on Nov. 10, according to a release, a joint committee that has jurisdiction over “all matters relating to finance, revenue, capital bonding, fees, and taxation” in the state legislature.
In his fourth term now, Scanlon will be taking on another important leadership role in Hartford, having previously chaired the Insurance and Real Estate Committee for the last two terms.
Last session, Senate Deputy Majority Leader Jason Canforas and current House Majority Leader Jason Rojas co-chaired the committee.
Scanlon might also have a familiar face across the aisle when the new legislative session begins, as Guilford’s other state representative, Vinnie Candalora (R-86) has served on the committee for several years.
“I am deeply honored to be named chairman of the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee and I’m grateful to Speaker Ritter for entrusting me with this great responsibility,” said Scanlon in the release. “Connecticut certainly faces challenges when it comes to our finances but I’m truly excited to be given the opportunity to address those challenges, craft our state budget and most importantly help grow Connecticut’s economy.”
