MPD Will Kick Off Holiday Toy and Food Drive in Coming Weeks
The Madison Police Department (MPD) is planning on holding its toy and food drive much earlier this year, citing increased need and as they adapt to the pandemic-stricken world.
MPD Captain Joe Race said that while health restrictions might make collecting and distributing food items and holiday gifts, the MPD is prepared to go “full on” in anticipation of having more families in need this year even as details are being worked out
Last year, an MPD spokesperson said they serve approximately 30 Madison families annually, collecting everything from hand-knit sweaters to grocery store gift cards.
Race said likely the MPD will kick off the gift and toy drive before Halloween as it looks for residents to support their neighbors during the holiday season.
