08/27/2020 12:00 AMNon-profit Feed Branford Kids is gearing up to mobilize its school back-pack meal/snack delivery program for the 2020-21 school year; while also announcing the two final dates for a service which started up during COVID-19: curbside pick-ups of free bags of quick-serve kids' weekend meals and snacks to all Branford families in need.
The last two days for the FBK curbside service will be Monday, August 31, 3 — 5 p.m. at Branford's Trinity Epsicopal Church and Thursday, September 10, 5 — 6:30 p.m. at the FBK warehouse, 21 Business Park Drive. Drivers arriving to the curbside service will receive bags containing two servings each of milk and juice, two breakfasts, two lunches and two snacks. No registration or advance notice required.
FBK board president Kristine Klarman said FBK will begin the 2020-21 school year with a new mobile delivery service starting Sept. 20. More details will be announced soon.
Last March, after school buildings were closed due to the pandemic, FBK, with an assist from the Branford Board of Education, delivered FBK meal/snack bags weekly to the homes of over 180 Branford kids registered to receive the service during the 2019-20 school year. On March 23, 2020, FBK also started up the curbside delivery program to help any community families in need during the pandemic.
