08/20/2020 12:01 AMIn response to social distancing policies resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak, the following religious groups have either temporarily closed and shifted to virtual worship services or have reopened and modified onsite services to conform to safety guidelines. Killingworth
• Congregational Church in Killingworth, 273 Route 81. In-person Sunday worship has resume at 10 a.m. at the outdoor Memorial Garden Chapel. The service is also available via Zoom or teleconference call. For more information or to join, visit killingworthchurch.org.
• Living Rock Church of Killingworth, 138 Route 81. Outdoor Sunday service are held at 10 a.m. Ushers will direct worshipers where to park. Attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs or blankets and water bottles. Masks are optional outdoors, but are required when using a shared microphone. • St. Lawrence Parish, 7 Hemlock Drive, Killingworth. Weekday Masses on Tuesday at 7 a.m. and Wednesday through Saturday at 8:30 a.m. have resumed in the church under safety guidelines. There is a limit of 50 parishioners at each Mass and parishioners are required follow several safety protocols including wearing masks and maintaining the regular six-feet social distancing policy. In-church Sunday Masses at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. as well as Saturday vigil Masses at 4 p.m. have also resumed. Note that the dispensation from the Sunday obligation extends until further notice. Livestream Masses will continue until the dispensation is lifted; the Masses will be livestreamed via Facebook at 10:30 a.m. from St. Peter Church, St. Peter’s Lane, Higganum. The recitation of the rosary also takes place from St. Peter Catholic Church every night at 8 p.m. via Zoom. Madison
• Christ Chapel, 1185 Durham Road, Madison. Sunday worship services have resumed on the front lawn at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, or even pop-up tents if shelter is needed. Participants are also requested to refrain from going indoors. Sitting in clusters with persons of the same household is permitted, but social distancing is encouraged with members of other households or groups. Past Sunday worship services and sermons are available online. • St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy Street, Madison. Weekday Masses have resumed in the church under certain guidelines. Weekday Mass will be celebrated Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 7:45 a.m.; the church will open at 7:30 a.m. Weekend Masses have resumed with a modified schedule: Saturday vigil Mass at 4 p.m. and Sunday Mass at 7:30 and 10 a.m. Massgoers are asked to sign up online for in-person weekend Mass. Parishioners are required to follow several safety protocols, including wearing masks and maintaining the regular six-feet social distancing policy. A maximum of seven seats may be reserved under one name. A confirmation email will be sent. Massgoers are asked to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of Mass to allow time for the check-in process. The church hall remains closed and restrooms are not available. The dispensation from the Sunday obligation has been extended through Sunday, Sept. 6. Livestream Mass is offered at 10 a.m. from St. Thomas More Chapel in New Haven.
