Car Crashes into Unoccupied Building in East Haven
On Aug. 11, East Haven Police and Fire department personnel were dispatched to the area of Hemingway Avenue and Short Beach Road for a report of a car into a building. Upon arrival, responding units located a 2016 Mercedes Benz, which appeared to have crossed over Hemingway Avenue from the Dunkin’ parking lot, lodged into the side an unoccupied building in the rear parking lot of 662 Coe Avenue.
The female operator, who had to be extricated from the vehicle and treated on scene by East Haven Fire Department personnel, was alert and conscious. She was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Due to the extent of the damage to the building, the East Haven building inspector was notified and responded to the scene before the vehicle was removed from the building.
Anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to this accident is asked to contact Officer John Fraenza at jfraenza@easthavenpolice.com. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
