Scranton Library Offers Public Tours Prior to Official Re-Opening
The Scranton Library Board of Trustees announces additional dates and times for its popular self-guided walking tours of the renovated and expanded library building. Tours will be available Tuesdays, Aug. 11 and 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, Aug. 15 and 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Tours will begin at the new main library entrance at the rear of the building, off the parking lot. The parking lot has a capacity of 45 cars and will be open and available. All visitors will be required to wear face coverings, wash or sanitize their hands upon entering the building, and maintain social distancing during their tour. Disposable gloves and face masks will be available for those who need them.
Visitors will follow a clearly marked path through the library, walking one-by-one or in family groups. Library docents will be spaced along the walking path. For the safety of all, bathrooms and drinking fountains will not be available. Accommodations will be made for visitors in wheelchairs or those with physical challenges.
The Scranton Library Board of Trustees still has about $200,000 to raise to meet its total fundraising goal of $6 million. Financial contributions will be welcome, but not required, at the end of the tours. To schedule a tour, visit rebrand.ly/scrantontour.
