Beaches in Madison and Guilford reopened on July 9, a day after closing due to concerns about a sewage leak that dumped 2.1 million gallons of raw sewage into the Long Island Sound in New Haven.
Water quality tests, which take 12 to 24 hours to complete, showed the towns’ beaches were safe to return to.
Beaches in Branford, East Haven, and West Haven remained closed at press time.
