Norwich Man Arrested in Westbrook on Weapons Charges
A Norwich man is under arrest in Westbrook after police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the Welcome Center on Interstate 95.
State police from Troop F in Westbrook were dispatched to the Welcome Center on April 16 at 10:36 p.m. on the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, troopers met with a witness who was concerned for the safety of the public because the vehicle in question had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to pulling into the rest area. The male operator was also acting belligerent.
Officers identified the driver as Lamar McDuffie, 28, of Norwich. During the investigation, McDuffie became combative with officers and upon searching the vehicle, Troopers located a Taurus 9mm handgun with a high capacity magazine. There was also a spent 9mm shell casing located on the driver's side floorboard. McDuffie was arrested and transported to Troop F for processing.
McDuffie was charged with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of a large capacity magazine, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, and criminal possession of a firearm. He failed to post bond and was held on a $100,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on April 17.
