03/13/2020 12:00 AMTo help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Branford Education Hall of Fame (BEHF) has made the difficult decision to postpone its Class of 2020 induction dinner planned for April 23 until next year, with an intended new date of April 22, 2021.
The news was shared with inductees in a letter sent out Friday, March 13 by BEHF.
"We have made a difficult but of course very necessary decision to postpone our Hall of Fame dinner for a year. We are hoping to hold the dinner next April 22, 2021 to honor our very worthy inductees. We are very aware of the time we are in and our overwhelming concern is doing what we can to help prevent the spread COVID -19 virus."
The letter signed by BEHF annual dinner coordinators Toni Cartisano and Carol Martens, also noted, "We are as disappointed as all of you. We always look forward to this very special evening we share with our inductees and their family and friends!"
The members of the BEHF Class of 2020 are: Tracey Amodio, an elementary physical education teacher; Beatrice Brown an elementary teacher and paraprofessional; Robert Gaiser, Branford High School (BHS) administrator and first director of BHS Horizons Program, Rich and Leslie Hurlburt, School Yard Habitat-Branford Early Learning Center; Jean Kelley, Brian's Hope ADL educator and teacher; Patricia Mooney, Walsh Intermediate School (WIS) Language Arts Teacher, Diane Pappacoda, Branford Early Learning Center Teacher and Director; Susan Rood, WIS World Language Teacher; Suzanne Serviss, BHS and WIS Social Worker and (posthumous) Elaine Brainerd, BHS Nurse/Educator.
Anyone who has purchased tickets through the Eventbrite link that was posted at www.branfordeducationhalloffame) will have their purchases refund through their credit card, said organizers.
