Lynn Road Reopens in Westbrook
On Dec. 2, the Lynn Road Bridge in Westbrook was officially reopened. This was a major initiative that included funding from the Town of Westbrook and the State of Connecticut.
Xenelis Construction was awarded the bid several months ago and Dwayne Xenelis commented, “We are happy to have the opportunity and glad to work together with the town to get the bridge done on time and on budget.”
Scott Medeiros, Woodard & Curran and engineer for the project, said, “Xenelis did a great job on the project and we are happy to have this long process completed before the holidays.”
Westbrook was very fortunate that the state Department of Economic Community Development supported the new bridge construction.
“It was great to work with the town and the Department of Transportation to come up with the design that respects the history of the bridge,” said Catherine Labadia of the State Historic Preservation Office. “We understand that safety calls for change but it is great to retain the historic materials and fit into the rustic environment of the neighborhood.”
First Selectman Noel Bishop complimented all of the individuals who were responsible for working together as a team on an initiative that is extremely important to the residents of Westbrook.
