Two Frontage Road Businesses Robbed within 12 Hours
East Haven Police are looking for a man who they believe robbed two Frontage Road businesses within 12 hours of each other.
Police received a robbery report on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10:38 p.m. from a manager at Sunoco, 80 East Frontage Rd. Upon arrival, officers determined that a white or Hispanic male brandished a knife, jumped over the store counter, gained access to the cash register, and then fled the store with cash. The suspect was described as standing 5' 11" to 6' with a "scruffy" mustache, and he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white logo over the left breast, gray or tan jeans, and black shoes.
Police received a second robbery report on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 10:32 a.m from Dunkin', 91 East Frontage Rd. Upon arrival, police learned that a white or Hispanic male had entered the business with a knife. He reached over the counter and gained access to the cash register and took cash. The suspect's description matched that of the suspect from the Sunoco robbery.
In both cases the suspect fled the scene in a newer model dark gray/charcoal Honda Civic with tinted windows and its license plate removed.
Employees at both busineses called their employers before calling police, creating a significant time delay in both robberies. Police urge robbery victims not to interfere with robberies in progress, but want victims to call 911 as soon as the suspect leaves and it is safe to do so.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect is urged to call East Haven Police at 203-468-3820 or message the department on Facebook.
