Hollywood Glam Night Benfits FHF, Volunteer Firefighters in Clinton
Anyone interested in showing off their most dapper attire for a night out on the town is invited to attend Hollywood Glam Night on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sweetwater Farm in Clinton. Proceeds from the event will benefit both Families Helping Families (FHF) and the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department.
FHF is a nonprofit that undertakes several different programs each year to assist families in need in Clinton. The programs range from providing fresh produce to the food pantry to providing back to school clothes and bikes to children.
Hollywood Glam Night was started two years ago by FHF President Miner Vincent as a way to not only benefit a local cause, but celebrate those who have helped FHF over the years.
“We wanted to have an event where we could thank all who given their valuable time to help us at all our different events as well as those who had generously donated to FHF. We also wanted to use this occasion to help another organization in town so it was decided that a substantial portion of the net profits would be given to them to help their organization,” said Vincent.
“Last year and this year we have partnered with the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department [CVFD]. We weren’t sure that people understood that they raise all the money to pay for their operational expenses on their own; the town does provide some funds for their capital expenses,” Vincent said. “The men and women of CVFD are always ready to help our town in any emergency so we thought the least we could do was to help them raise some funds for the department. so, the proceeds are divided with them and FHF.
“The FHF share is used to continue to fund our five community outreach programs, which assist all Clinton children and families from the very youngest to our seniors,” Vincent added. “They are Energy Assistance, Fresh Produce, Cans for Clinton, Families to Families, and our Clinton Kids Initiative.
FHF board member Eileen Smith said that both organizations organize various programs that benefit the entire community and are active in various community functions.
“We are all truly one event or tragedy away from being in need,” Smith said, noting that during those times of need, people in the community at large have routinely answered the call for help. “I think that makes Clinton special.”
