Branford Goes Back to School Sept. 3
Branford goes back to school on Tuesday, Sept. 3 with some new district goals, progress with the Walsh Intermediate School expansion/renovation, and a brand-new Branford Public School (BPS) website (see related story).
BPS students in grades 9 to 12 attend Branford High School (BHS); the town’s Walsh Intermediate School (WIS) serves grades 5 to 8. Based on home address, elementary aged students attend one of the Branford’s three elementary schools serving pre-K through grade 4 students: Mary T. Murphy Elementary School, John B. Sliney Elementary School, and Mary R. Tisko Elementary School.
BHS begins its day at 7:25 a.m. and dismisses students at 2:25 p.m. WIS school hours are 8:05 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Daily school hours at the town’s three elementary schools are 8:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.
The first day of school will be a full school day. During the month of September, Wednesday, Sept. 25 will be the month’s only district-wide early release day, for teacher professional development.
