North Branford Democrats Post Full Slate for 2019 Town Elections
On July 23, the North Branford Democratic Town Committee (DTC) convened to endorse a full slate of Town Council and Board of Education (BOE) candidates for the November 2019 municipal election.
The slate, signed by DTC chair Marcey Onofrio, was submitted to the Town Clerk's office on July 24.
North Branford Democrats will have six Town Council candidates on the November 5, 2019 ballot, vying to win the maximum number of seats, six, allowed by Town Charter for any party. Currently, Democrats are in the minority on the Town Council, holding three of nine seats.
The six Democratic-endorsed 2019 Town Council candidates include incumbents Joseph Faughnan and Marie Diamond, together candidates Daniel Armin, a past Town Council member who most recently served for the 2015-2017 term; Brenda Shuler, Joseph P. Martin and Lou Paternoster. Current Democratic Town Council member George Miller is not in the running for re-election.
Paternoster has served the town in the past as an elected member of the Board of Education (BOE) including serving as BOE chairman (2014). North Branford's BOE is made up of seven members serving staggered terms.
Democratic-endorsed BOE candidates for the November, 2019 municipal election are Vincent J. Mase Sr., Jana Balsamo and Robert Mullins. Mase and Balsamo are both currently serving on the BOE as members appointed by the Town Council to fill vacancies on the board. Balsamo was appointed in December, 2017 and Mase was appointed in January, 2018.
