Polls Close with a Win for Comey in Branford's 102nd Race
At the close of polls on Tuesday, Nov. 6, preliminary numbers show Democrat Robin Comey has won the 102nd State Representative seat in the General Assembly representing Branford, Connecticut.
Comey was with her supporters for a watch party at Branford Democratic Headquarters when the numbers from the districts she represents began to be reported by poll watchers. The preliminary count showed a total of 5,579 votes for Comey to 4,586 received by her Republican opponent, Robert Imperato.
Comey will resume Branford's General Assembly representation by a Democrat in Hartford, filling an open seat created due to Democratic State Rep. Lonnie Reed's announcement that she would not seek a sixth term in the 2018 state race.
Thanking a crowd of excited supporters for their efforts in getting out the vote, Comey said, "I'm thrilled to represent Branford. I'm going to lead on issues such as affordable health care, assuring cradle to career education, improving our long term senior care for families and building a strong economy that works for the middle class and the state."
