Branford HS Band Marches at UConn, WTNH Game of the Week, Competitions
Before the school year started, the Branford High School (BHS) band, under the direction of Mallory Legman, was hard at work during a week of band camp. The students practiced marching and music to prepare for performances throughout the fall. Their 2018 field show is called "Crazy Caroline Don't Stop" and includes Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love," Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline," Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," and the school fight song, "Hail to the Varsity."
The students have already performed excerpts from their show at multiple home football games, including the WTNH Game of the Week on September 21. Some band members arrived at school as early as 5:45 a.m. on game day to perform on a 6 a.m. news broadcast previewing the game.
Earlier that month, the BHS band joined students from high schools across Connecticut to perform with the UConn Marching Band during halftime performance at the UConn vs. URI football game on September 15.
The BHS band also participated in a competition at Sheehan High School (Wallingford) on September 22, and at another competition at Lyman Hall High School (Wallingford) on October 13.
