Swing Into Branford Rotary Golf Tourney Oct. 15
Join in the fun and swing at the links at the Branford Rotary Club's 7th annual Golf Classic on Monday, October 15. The tourney is situated at a new venue for the event, scenic Wallingford Country Club on 195 Long Hill Road, Wallingford(conveniently located off I-91 and just minutes from US Route 15).
The event will benefit the Branford Counseling Center Basic Needs Program, Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, local veterans' groups, Soundview YMCA Annual Campaign, and the Orchard House Adult Medical Day Care Center.
Encouraged by Englishman Haley H. Hawkins, a group of sportsmen founded the Wallingford Golf Club in 1898. From that simple beginning the club became one of the most respected golf layouts in Connecticut. As nearly as can be determined, Wallingford is one of the oldest golf-country clubs in the state.
Tourney registration opens at 7:30 a.m. with continental breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The day includes a BBQ buffet (1 p.m.) cocktail hour (open bar) raffle, and auction.
Prizes to be awarded include Longest Drive, Men & Women Closest to the Pin, Gross Score for 1st, 2nd and last place and Hole-in-One.
Registration is $150 per golfer; register online at www.branfordrotary.org. Appropriate attire is required. Spikeless shoes are required, and jeans are prohibited. Spectators are welcome. Cocktail party and lunch buffet available for non-golfers at $30. Sponsorships are encouraged and will be posted throughout the attractive Wallingford Country Club course.
