Branford Announces Sept. 6 Jazz Show Featuring Jules Bashkin & Survivors Swing Band

In honor, recognition and appreciation of all senior citizens, the Branford Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that they have added an additional jazz concert [following the August 30 conclusion of this summer's Branford Jazz on the Green Series]. Saxophonist Jules Bashkin and The Survivors Swing Band will be on the Branford Town Green, 1019 Main Street, to showcase their jazz talent on Thursday, September 6 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free to the public.

The saxophonist and his seven member band (tenor saxophonist Greg Butko, bassist Lauren Humpage  pianist Sandra Wittman,  drummer Jeremy Alston, guitarist Bill Steinhauser and, trumpeter Dave Mechler), will be performing their big band classics from the 1940's as well as their jazz and swing music. 

Bashkin has become the face of the Survivors; and since 2011, he has booked his group's own shows, including performances at New Haven's 380 Birthday Party, Amarante's Sea Cliff Inn, Cromwell High School, Watermark at East Hill in Southbury, the Covenant Village of Cromwell, the Jewish Home in Bridgeport, Brightview in New Canaan, and the Miller Memorial Library in Hamden.
