Andrew T. Chapman of Guilford Troop 474 received his Eagle Scout Medal during an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony on June 10 at the Nathaniel B. Greene Community Center. Scoutmaster Paul Ehrlich presided over the ceremony.

In order to achieve the rank of eagle scout, the highest rank in boy scouting, Chapman had to earn at least 21 merit badges on subjects such as citizenship, first aid, and camping. In addition, he had to plan and lead a special project that benefited the community. Chapmanā€™s project was to design, build, and install a kiosk for the Guilford Dog Park at Nut Plains Field.

Special guests at the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony included Father Stephen Sledesky of Saint George Church, state representatives Sean Scanlon (D-98) and Vincent Candelora (R-86), First Selectman Matthew Hoey, Parks & Recreation Director Rick Maynard, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) CT Yankee Council District Advancement Chairman Stan Malinowski, and BSA CT Yankee Council District Chairman Mark Mackowiak.
