Lobsterpalooza Returns Aug. 22
As the clock winds down on summer, the East Haven Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its eighth annual Lobsterpalooza, a community-wide seaside celebration on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Anthony’s Oceanview.
“Our goal with this event is to bring our community together for a night of amazing food, friends, great music, and dancing with Timmy Maia,” said Chamber President Jennifer Higham. “It’s oddly enough an end-of-the-summer event and the chamber would like to end it with the best time ever!”
With a fairly simple (and popular) formula—lobster and steak heading up an extensive clambake menu, all served overlooking Long Island Sound—the chamber isn’t making any major changes to the event, which has sold out each year in advance. Something that has changed is the amount of community support.
“This is a record breaking year for sponsors, with 35 sponsors,” Higham said. “Every year the event has been bigger and better than the previous year. We have people coming to this event from near and far. We are proud to give the community an evening out that they look forward to every year.”
Higham noted that many of the attendees aren’t affiliated with the chamber, which is part of the plan.
“This is a community event and is open to everyone,” she said. “The atmosphere is fun and exciting.”
East Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Lobsterpalooza is from 6 to 10 p.m., rain or shine, on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Anthony’s Oceanview, 450 Lighthouse Road, New Haven. Tickets, $60, are available at www.lobsterpalooza.org through Wednesday, Aug. 15 and are available to non-chamber members. The social hour menu (6 to 7 p.m.) features cold hors d’ oeuvres including assorted cheese and crackers, bruschetta, pizzas, and home style specialty breads. The main menu offers a clambake menu including lobsters, a carving station with filet mignon, barbecued ribs and chicken, steamed mussels, and more. Guests can also participate in a raffle with items from the local business community.
