07/06/2018 12:00 AMOld Saybrook Police Officers are sporting a new summer uniform featuring shorts and a polo shirt, but to wear the new, more comfortable uniform police officers must donate $5 per day to their 4-year-old neighbor, Sean MacDonnell, who sadly has Stage 3 rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer found in 250 children in the United States each year.
“Sean lives just blocks away from our Police Department. We are very committed to helping him and his family!” said Chief Michael A. Spera, who is organizing the community-wide effort “The police union has graciously committed to matching each police officer’s donation. Now we are looking to inspire our community and beyond to help this young man and his family during his courageous battle.”
Visit www.Shorts4Sean.com to read Sean’s Story and make a donation. All donations will be presented to MacDonnell’s parents at the end of the summer.
The Old Saybrook Police will be coordinating this important fundraiser all summer long. For more information, contact the Old Saybrook Police Department at 860-395-3142.
