Yaccarino: Continuing to Serve North Haven
It’s an honor and privilege to have been unanimously endorsed by the North Haven Republican Town Committee on May 22. I’d also like to thank State Senator Len Fasano and First Selectman Mike Freda for nominating me. Regardless of political affiliation, my job is to represent all North Haven residents and strive to do the most good for the most people all of the time.
My principal focus this past legislative term was advancing our state’s investment in the bio-science industries and STEM fields. This endeavor culminated with the signing of PA 18-47/SA 18-23, which should drive investment in these fields to New Haven county. This is a bill I’m personally proud of pushing and advancing through the legislature over multiple terms, with support from both parties. I also worked at growing jobs in our state as a ranking member on the Commerce Committee and as the new leading member of the Connecticut Economic Competitiveness Council. I hope one day to see New Haven County (including North Haven) and our state ‘ to be a hub of new and modern economic growth.
I also use my role as state representative to assist those in need. I’m actively involved in the Veterans Committee to help those who served our country and their families. I led the state legislative movement to fully fund our state Medicare savings program for seniors. I’m also a new member of a bi-partisan state school security and safety committee comprised of legislators, educators, safety professionals, and members of law enforcement, developing plans and practices to make our school systems safe.
It has been my pleasure and honor to serve the people of North Haven these past eight years, and I look forward to meeting many of you on the campaign trail these next few months to listen to your issues and concerns.
