06/27/2018 08:45 AMGraduates of The Morgan School, from every year, can mark their calendar for the Triennial Reunion on Sunday, July 15 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Town Hall.
The event will cost $20 per person and include food and beverages. Attendees can also pay triennial class dues ($10), which help fund the alumni pins given at graduation and a book of Morgan history given to every incoming freshman.
This will mark the 19th time the triennial event has been held, but April Shuman, one of the event organizers, said the reunion dates back further than that. Shuman said that the event used to be held every year but was eventually changed to once every three years.
Shuman, who has helped facilitate the reunion for about the last 10 years, said that the event typically draws about 150 to 200 people.
“Every year we seem to get a few more people coming,” Shuman said.
Shuman said that older graduates traditionally make a strong showing at the event, and that the organizers are trying to attract more recent graduates, as well. Shuman said it can be a challenge to get the word out about the event.
Shuman said what makes this reunion special is the attendees wide range of ages and class years.
“The advantage is if you go to your class reunion you only see your class,” Shuman said.
As an example of what makes this unique, Shuman said that at this event she can connect with who she termed “the big kids.” Though they are no longer kids, Shuman said it is fun to see the people who were teenagers when she was a kid growing up in Clinton whom she knew but weren’t in her class year.
“It’s funny to mix with the other generations. Everyone is happy to see each other,” Shuman said.
Payment for the event can be made by cash or check payable to The Morgan School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 667, Clinton, CT 06413 (specify “Triennial Reunion” on the envelope) no later than Sunday, July 1.
