Branford Public Schools Announce Fifth Year for Free Summer Meals
Beginning Monday, June 25, Branford Public Schools (BPS) will enter its fifth year of serving up free summer meals for kids and teens 18 and under. The program will offer free breakfast and lunch every week, Monday – Friday, from June 25 through August 24.
Doors to three public schools will be open for the breakfast and lunch service. At Branford High School, 185 East Main St., breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. and lunch will be available from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Both John B. Sliney Elementary School (23 Eades St.) and Mary Tisko Elementary School (118 Damascus Road) will be open for breakfast from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The program is supported by a USDA grant won by BPS, based in part on Branford's percentage of free and reduced lunch participants. In cooperation with End Hunger CT, Free Summer Meals help ensure Branford kids 18 and under receive delicious, nutritious varieties of breakfast and lunch foods served up by BPS school dinning service provider Chartwells.
