Sexton Named Branford Public Schools' Assist. Superintendent
June 7, 2018: After an extensive search, Branford Public Schools is pleased to announce that the Board of Education (BOE) appointed Rachel Sexton as the district's next Assistant Superintendent of Schools, at last night's Special Board meeting. She commences on July 1, 2018. Ms. Sexton is an exemplary educational leader with vast experiences in public education. She has worked extensively in urban and suburban school districts to develop viable curricula for students.
In her new role in Branford, she will oversee the PreK-12 academic program and serve as an integral part of the executive leadership team of the District. Her commitment to excellence and her dedication to every student's success are hallmarks of her work. Ms. Sexton comes to us from the Area Cooperative Services Center (ACES) where she has served as the Chief of ACES Institute, responsible to ensure the delivery of customized fee-for-service solutions to 25 Connecticut school districts. Prior to that assignment, she served as the Director of Talent Development and as an Education Specialist for ACES.
Her broad educational experiences at ACES combined with her experiences teaching high school in New Haven, Madison, Stamford and in the state of Maryland make her highly qualified to continue the District's work in the area of teaching and learning, and curriculum and instruction. Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Dartmouth College in History and modified with Education. She has also studied at Brown University and Wesleyan College. Rachel is currently enrolled in the Advanced Official Certification Program at Central Connecticut State University. As noted by Superintendent, Hamlet M.
