Our Lady of Mercy Mock Trial Team Receives Citations; Celebrates 12th State Championship
Students, parents, alumni, and local officials gathered at Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) School on May 30 to honor and recognize the continuing success of the school’s Mock Trial team. This year’s win marks the 12th state championship for OLM.
State Representative Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) presented each student and the team’s teacher with a citation from the General Assembly congratulating them on their success and hard work.
This past April, the OLM team won the Middle School Mock Trial State Championship at the Appellate Court in Hartford. The team practiced for months before competing against more than 35 teams to take the top prize.
This year’s team consisted of six student attorneys, Matt Tracy, Damian Bianchi, Jacob Bauer, Kaylor Garamella, Joseph Lallier, and Henry Keller; and six witnesses, Lucia Rusconi, Gabriella Cafiero, Noah Sonenstein, Connor Crowley, Alex Sauer, and Joesph Mazzarella. The bailiff was Teddy Tuveson and the timer was Luke Flemming. The team was led by teacher and coach Nancy Addorisio and assisted by Honorable Peter McShane and Attorney Barry Beletsky. Parents Barbara Sonenstein, Rachael Alford, and the Honorable Peter Barrett also provided input to help the team.
