Juvenile Arrested After Crashing Stolen Vehicle in to a House
A juvenile is under arrest in East Haven after crashing a stolen vehicle into several parked vehicles and a residence on Sunday, June 3.
According to East Haven Police, officers were dispatched to Laura Lane at 1:41 a.m. on the report of several suspicious vehicles cruising the block. Upon arriving in the area, a Mazda SUV turned onto Charter Oak Avenue from Haines Street, following another dark colored SUV. As a marked patrol car turned onto Charter Oak Avenue, the operator of the Mazda SUV struck a parked vehicle, then fled, but struck another parked vehicle in a driveway at 25 Wilson Street. The vehicle continued on and struck the house at the same address, causing extensive structural damage.
The operator of the Mazda, a juvenile, then bailed out of the vehicle, fleeing on foot and was quickly apprehended in the driveway. Throughout the investigation, it was determined that at least two vehicles were stolen from the Charter Oak Avenue area, one of them being the Mazda. Two responding officers were involved in a collision with each other while responding to the incident. They were not injured.
The juvenile was charged with larceny in the second degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree, engaging police in pursuit, criminal trover in the second degree, burglary in the third degree, reckless driving, evading responsibility, possession of burglar tools, interfering with police, larceny in the third degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
The juvenile was processed, given a court date, and released to a guardian.
