Comey Announces Fundraising Goals Met for Branford's 102nd District Candidacy
Robin Comey, Democratic Candidate for State Representative from the 102nd District, announced today [June 4] that she has met the fundraising goal required to become eligible for the Citizens' Election Program in small dollar donations. As a result, she is eligible for an $25,000 grant to her campaign from the State Elections Enforcement Commission.
"I am excited to have received donations from a wide variety of Branford residents, many of who told me it was their first time donating to a local campaign. I am particularly proud that there were many others who reached across party lines to show their support," said Comey. "The relationships I have and the trust I've built with Branford voters is reflected in the unification behind my candidacy."
Comey is a resident of Short Beach and is known for her community leadership in a wide variety of areas that impact families throughout Branford. She currently serves on the RTM representing the 3rd district, owns and operates a small business, and serves as the Executive Director of Branford Early Childhood Collaborative. Her activism efforts have brought her to Hartford to advocate for policy changes that better support education, pharmaceutical transparency, public health policy and other issues that impact seniors, the disabled, families and children.
"Over the next five months, I will meet with voters and talk with them about issues that are consistent with the values I believe are important," said Comey. "I know that Branford wants leaders they can depend on and who are responsive to their needs and concerns."
Last week, Comey won the three-way race for endorsement from the Branford Democratic Party by securing the majority of votes of those members present at the special meeting. She is endorsed by Representative Lonnie Reed, who currently holds the 102nd district seat for Branford. Comey has also received endorsement from Representative Sean Scanlon, who represents the 98th district, and includes portions of Branford and Guilford.
