Wrapping Up Old Saybrook's North Main Street

The scope of the $1.3 million project to rebuild Old Saybrook’s North Main Street from the train tracks to the Boston Post Road included installing new drainage systems, sidewalks on both sides of the road, decorative lighting, and rebuilding the road from the base to the pavement. State Transportation Commissioner James Redeker was in town on May 17 to celebrate the successful completion of a state-funded project to rebuild North Main Street between the Boston Post Road and the train tracks. The project was funded with a $1.3 million Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP) grant that relied on funds in the State Transportation Fund; the project was chosen to receive LOTCIP funding by the Board of the Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments.
